How do I register my gift?
You can register your Become a Laird or Lady ancestry gift online or by post. We recommend that you register online as this speeds up the time it takes for you to receive your certificate and Proof of Title card. Full instructions are enclosed in the gift tin.
How long do I have to register my gift?
You need to register your Become a Laird or Lady ancestry gift before the ‘register by’ date on your gift registration booklet. We recommend that you register your gift as soon as possible.
How long does it take for me to receive my certificate and Proof of Title card?
These will be dispatched within 28 days receipt of your registration details. Occasionally, factors outside of Gift Republic’s control may affect delivery times.
Do I have to use my new title?
No, You can continue to use your original title if you’d prefer.
Can I call myself a Lord?
This gift does not entitle the recipient to use a genuine aristocratic title. Anyone is permitted to refer to themselves by any title they wish, including Lord, Lady or Laird, as long as they do not defraud anyone through the use of that title or name.
Can I visit my plot?
Yes. We urge you to visit your land! By registering this Become a Laird or Lady ancestry gift, you and a guest will be entitled to one complimentary tour of Dunans Castle and its grounds. Details on how to get to Dunans will be sent along with your certificate and Proof of Title card.
There is one scheduled tour per month for Gift Republic’s Lairds and Ladies though tours may be possible at other times. Please contact Dunans to pre-book your tour before visiting to avoid disappointment. Contact details will be sent to you with your certificate and Proof of Title card.
Can my land and title be inherited?
Yes. Provided Dunans Castle are informed of the changes to your membership of the project and 'ownership' of the land, both can be passed on.
The complimentary Dunans tour is valid for two people and must be booked in advance through Dunans Castle. Please note that restoration work may be in progress so there may be times when certain areas are closed. Dunans reserves the right to alter or remove the tour without prior notice for technical, operational or other reasons and the Proof of Title card is neither refundable nor exchangeable. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Dunans reserves the right to refuse entry onto the tour. Gift Republic cannot be held responsible for any planned or unforeseen changes to Dunans.
